FAQ | Maternity Photography
When should my session take place?
I find around the start of the third trimester is when mamas-to-be are feeling their best and most glow-y. But we've taken beautiful maternity photos of women all the way up to a day or two before delivery ... all baby bellys are beautiful, so there's really no "wrong" time for your session!
When should I schedule my session?
At least 6 weeks out, more like 8 if you are going to need a weekend session. They tend to fill up quickly, especially in spring and fall.
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel most comfortable in! I recommend something form fitting, to show off the belly. And flat(ish) shoes because you'll be standing, walking, and moving around a lot. I can provide maternity gowns and accessories like floral crowns, if that's the aesthetic you're looking for.
What should I bring?
Yourself and your best upbeat, excited attitude! You can also bring a few props, special items that you have for baby (little shoes or name blocks, for example). If you'd like to do a gender reveal during the session, we can discuss additional props to make this happen. If you're a babywearer, bring your favorite wrap so we can wrap the belly (I can also provide wraps from my personal collection).
Can partners/children/pets be featured in the photos?
I'm feeling a little self-conscious because of the changes in my body ...
The changes in your beautiful body are exactly why we're here doing this session! We're all about glorifying the pregnant form. That said, retouching for things like stretch marks and to make clothing lay properly is available. Your concerns and how to make you most comfortable is one of the things we'll discuss before your session.
What other baby/birth-related sessions do you offer?
Everything from newborn sessions (posed and lifestyle, Fresh 48), milestones (3, 6, 9 months), event photography (for things like christenings and baptisms), babywearing portraits, cake smashes, and even birth photography packages.
Do you offer a discount if I book more than one?
Let's talk about it! Give me a call.
